Not many of us have peeked into an old age home. And none of us may have seen or known of an old age home for mentally challenged women so close to us in Gurugram. Tau Devilal Old Age Home for 30 mentally challenged women is one such which we at Bringing Smiles visited. Some of these women are 100 years or more and some have been in this home for mare than a quarter century! All facts to sit up and make us aware of what Society needs and what we can do to make the life of women living there just a little more comfortable.
Bringing Smiles organised a drive to collect provisions and day to day requirements of toiletteries and sanitation needs for these elderly ladies. With the onset of Winter, their immediate needs for clothes and blankets were also collected and many volunteers of Bringing Smiles went this morning to this Old Age Home.
Providing them medicines was a great challenge as some of them were prescription drugs for psychiatric needs. This too was managed by the group. An Ambulance was provided by Mr Udai Malhotra of Chikitsa Charitable Trust for transporting all the materials collected.
We are thankful to the support of our donors and well wishers as well as those working with us on the ground! A glimpse of some of these ladies will surely remind many of us of our own loved ones.
